So this has happen about 2 times and happens about every 50 days!

I have the ZyWALL 110 WAN 1 port to bridge with DMZ on V4.32(AAAA.0) the WAN 1 port is connected to port 1 on ZyXEL GS2210-24 on V4.50(AAND.2) and between the two is where the link drops to 100Mb.

I can't see it being the cable but happy to be wrong.

So what fixes this is a simple unplug and replug of the ports and that gets it back to 1Gb for around 50 days. So it happened again so I tried something new logged in to the ZyXEL GS2210-24 and tried changing the speed / duplex setting of port 1 to 1000M / full duplex this resulted in no connection changed back to auto-1000M linked at 100Mb so rebooted the ZyWALL 110 and is back to 1Gb.

I'm hoping its a firmware issue but it could be a hardware fault but seems odd that its stable for around 50days.

What should I do next should my uptime last for it to happen again?

    Regarding to your description,

we have not heard the similar case on USG series and GS2210-24 before.

Therefore, we want to clarify which is hardware issue or not, can you shift the other port to connect(on Switch and USG).

However, if the issue occur again, can you please dump the information via console and private message to me for our analysis.

    On GS2210-24, type comment:   GS2210# show tech-support

On Zywall, type comment:  Router(config)# show port status

So you want me to keep the same setup now or do you want me to change ports now? I can't change ports on the ZyWALL 110 but can change the port on GS2210-24.

You can keep the ports on zywall110, but please change the port on GS2210-24.

Its been 16 days on the same ports so what I will do is wait for it to happen again and post the logs then change the port this way you get to see it happen if you don't mind.

OK after thinking about its better if I do change the port on GS2210

But I do find it odd it takes around 50 days for it to drop to 100Mb maybe a custom link negotiation?

    Regarding to this case,
normally, the device will keep the 1000Mbps on auto negotiation.
Therefore, we need to analyze the log message to find out which part cause the speed down to 100Mb.

What I have also done is connected another bit of equipment to port 1 of the GS2210 thats known to be fine so we see what happens in the next 50days...its going to be a long wait...

Just to update my post here

The link went down to 100Mb but it don't take 50days it happened in 8days on port 7 of the GS2210-24 this it starting to look like the port on the ZyWALL 110 is failing? Or maybe a cable fault so for the time being I'm keeping things the same unless told what to do next in the mean time I have updated the ZyWALL 110 to V4.33 Its likely not going to make any difference but I can hope.

But its really odd that for the 8days it was stable and even when it drop to 100Mb it was stable without packet loss except when it dropped from 1Gb to 100Mb but I would of expected for a failing port to show more  packet loss?

Today I changed the cable out and put the ZyWALL 110 back to port 1 on the GS2210-24 it seems random and by moving the cable about made it worse so I'm hoping its the cable.
