Smart mesh - allow WiFi linked AP's to automatically attach to stronger signal
I have a site with 3 AP's. One of them is using Smart Mesh with a wireless uplink. On occasion, it will connect to the wired AP that has a much weaker signal than the other. A reboot will fix it.
Can the AP scan once every hour or less to see if there is a better signal AP for it to attach to?

Hi @TAPTech
Normally, the repeater NAP will connect to the root NAP with the best signal at that time. The connection will not be interrupted since there will be service impact while searching the better signal and reconnect to another AP. In this period, all the WiFi users who connect to the repeater AP will lost their connection to the internet. We cannot image how many impacts for this scenario, so this function is not in our queue so far. However, your suggestion is good for us to think about how to enhance the connection quality between the root AP and the repeater AP once the repeater AP choose the worse signal in the beginning for reasons.
Thanks for your idea.

Perhaps we could set a "default" root AP for the repeater to connect to. So if it attaches to a different AP for some reason, it will periodically check to see if the default AP is still available. Using Nebula, it can perform a lookup online to see if the AP is available without having to disconnect WiFi or use the radio to check.
