Hi

Just got the new model Zyxel GS1350-12HP switch and try to use the "extended range" .

After enabling the feature in web interface, I then connected my ethernet cable (around 250 meters) from switch to my ip cam.

Somehow the ip cam can only have the PoE power but no data transmission, so it won't work at all.

Anything have I missed?

    Hi @Sakura_T

May I know what model is your IP camera?

Also, what kinds of ethernet cable you use? (Cat5? Cat6?)

    Thanks

    Hey @Zyxel_Derrick

My camera is Samsung Hanwha WiseNet QNO-7080R, and the cable is common CAT5e.

Should I change to CAT6 one? It's kind of expensive to me.

    Hi @Sakura_T

We have other customers use the same IP camera as yours and also use 250M CAT5e ethernet cable but no issue happen.

Sometimes the quality of ethernet cable may have an impact on data transmission

Therefore, we suggest shortening the cable length and test again if the issue still exist

Also, if possible, you can change to CAT6 of course due to the higher quality it has

    Thanks

    Best regards,

Thanks for the reply, I'll try shorter CAT5e cable and keep you posted.

Just tested with 220m CAT5e cable and my ipcam is now working like a charm.

It does seem to have something to do with the cable quality, I'm guessing it can work in 250m if the cable is CAT6 or 7?

    Hi

I would buy a S/FTP Cable only. You must take care that the Cable and Shield is propper Made.
