As the https://homeforum.zyxel.com has been down for over 24 hours ("Please wait a few minutes and try again") I try it here:

- I work at a place without internet access.
- I want to connect my Windows 10 notebook (DHCP) with a PTZ camera with a static IP address (192.168.1.188)
- To set-up a small network (LAN), I have purchased the Zyxel P-660HN.

a) I cannot access the Zyxel P-660HN  with my Windows 10 notebook using the 192.168.1.1 as stated in the user manual of the Zyxel P-660HN.

b) How do I setup the LAN afterwards?

Hello @discover yes the forum is being migrated.

Are there any more numbers or letters in the model number in you P=660HN as there are multiple model numbers listed on the FTP site.

If you can provide more information then I as a fellow Zyxel customer could try to download the correct user guide and assist.

    Happy New Year.

    Hello @discover

    Thanks for your reply.

I have now looked at the user guide for your device from ftp://ftp.zyxel.com/P-660HN-T1A/user_guide/

Are you trying to access the device by WiFi? Is the WPS/WLAN LED showing green? (section 1.5.1. of the user guide refers.)
         - if it is then your WiFi is on, and your Windows 10 machine should see it.
         - If it is NOT green, then the user guide says press and hold the WPS/WLAN button on the top for 1 second. Then release and wait for the WPS/WLAN LED to show as Green.

You can then use the WPS button along with Windows 10 to make a Wireless Connection to your device.
         - this answer talks about how, see https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-networking-winpc/wps-on-windows-10/046dc857-c19b-41d6-8e47-6863fb75cede?page=2
         - the user guide for your Zyxel device says when you need to press the WPS button to make the connection, then press the WPS button for 5 to 10 seconds and then release it.
and then have Windows 10 connect to it.

Once you are connected, then you should be able to login with the password 1234.
         - if this does not work, then you will need to use the Reset button to reset your device (it will lose all of the configuration) and it will set the password back to 1234.
              - see section 1.7 of the user guide.

You might want to connect with a wired Ethernet cable to your device and plug into LAN sockets 1 to 4 and check that you get a solid or blinking LED.

The LEDs have the following meanings:

Once you can get to the web configurator screen on 192.168.1.1 in a web browser, then chapter 2 of the user guide will help you.
         - you will probably need to go to LAN then DHCP to set-up your device to automatically give out IP addresses to client devices connected to your P660HN-T1A.

You can then use the Web Configurator to go further.

I hope that this gives you a start. Please let me / us know if this is helpful.

    Kind regards,
        Tony

    Hello Toni

    Thanks for your detailed answer.

    a) You might want to connect with a wired Ethernet cable

    Yes, I tried with
    - two different Windows 10 PC's
    - two different CAT 5 cables (inlcuding the yellow on supplied with the Zyxel P-660HN)

Green ETHERNET 1 LED is blinking and solid:

    I cannot connect with 192.168.1.1.
    - Browsers: Firefox, Chrome
    - Response: "Not Safe", blank window, Page cannot befound, ERR _ADRESS_UNREACHABLE

    b) Are you trying to access the device by WiFi?

    Yes, i tried as well.

Is the WPS/WLAN LED showing green?

    Yes.

I see the SSID in Windows WiFi Settings and
I have entered the wireless key on the bottom of the  Zyxel P-660HN.

But I cannot connect, "no connection can be established"

    I have tried:
    - reset Button
    - Power Off

    Hello @discover

    Thanks for your reply.

with a) wired Ethernet cable, you could be ok to continue to 192.168.1.1 even though it says Not Safe, because the Not Safe relates to whether there is a certificate or not.
        - I think that it is ok to proceed to this local web-page, but be careful generally.

with b) access by WiFi, your Zyxel device probably needs more set-up in order to put it into WPA2-PSK security mode, see below.
         - I think that you need to set this up in the Web Configurator.
              - It might be set-up to something else at the moment.

I hope that this is helpful.

    Kind regards,
          Tony

    Hello @discover

    Thanks for your reply.

You might want to set your IP address manually, in order to get it working over Ethernet, in order to get them on to the same network subnet.

First get into Windows 10 Network Status page in the Control Panel

Then click on Change adapter options to get the following:

Then right click on Ethernet and left click on Properties to get the following:

left click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) and then click on Properties.

In Properties, click on Use the following IP address and try the following values:
IP address 192.168.1.100    (it can be any value other than 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.255)
        Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
        Default gateway 192.168.1.1

    and then click on OK.

And then try to access the 192.168.1.1 address in your browser.
         - It might work.

I hope that it is helpful.

    Kind regards,
         Tony

    Thanks, Tony
    for your detailed hints.

    I tried it - no success :-(

I have purchased an new Linksys E900 from the same supplier and it worked plug and play witholut any changes and with the same environment.

Therefore; I declare the Zyxel P-660HN as defective - dead on arrivel.
I return it to the supplier.
