USG60 and firmware upgrade...

hello everybody!
I joined this forum to ask for support in upgrading our USG60 router...

our USG60 is operating flawlessly(?) with 4.20(AAKY.2) firmware

we tried upgrading to 4.30 but, as soon as the flashing was complete,
a wizard was displayed with some questions to be answered
unfortunately the text in the window was incomplete,
making it impossible to complete the procedure...

we closed the window and re-did the login
the management interface was shown
but now there are some menu tabs without their own labels...

we tried upgrading to 4.31 and the blank menu items are still there...
then we upgraded to 4.32... without any change... blank menu items still there...

the USG60 router -seems- to operate as expected
but of course we don't feel safe using a firmware that behaves in a strange way...

so we reverted to the 4.20(AAKY.2)
that was left in the (Standby) area of the flash memory...

any suggestions?

thank you,
Luca

Did you clear your browser cache?

the wizard procedure was mangled beyond "cache problems"...

we tried connecting to the USG60 with different workstations
and all of them showed the missing tabs/labels...

this brings me to exclude a "simple" visualization problem...

I appreciate your help nevertheless! :-)

    Hi @orzetto,

You can use firmware recovery to upgrade USG60 to 4.32(AAKY.0) again.

See Appendix 3. Firmware Recovery on page 91 in the release note.

    ftp://ftp2.zyxel.com/USG60/firmware/USG60_4.32(AAKY.0)C0_2.pdf

If there is still blank menu after upgraded to 4.32(AAKY.0), feel free to let me know.

We will check the issue remotely.

ehm... I checked the firmware recovery procedure...

    but I want to ask...
    1) in which area is the recovery image going to be written? 1 or 2 ? (standby/running) ?
    2) is the last (good?) configuration retained after firmware recovery?

I am asking this 'cause at the moment we could switch back to 4.20(AAKY.2)
    and its last good configuration...
if I go on and take the firmware recovery procedure (and it doesn't fix the problems)
will I still be able to switch back to the previous (working) configuration?

    thank you,
    Luca

When you perform firmware recovery, the firmware file is applid to the running partition.
The lastgood.config remains in the orignial partition.
If you're concerned that the lastgood/startup-config file will be lost, you can also backup the lastgood.conf and startup-config.conf for 4.20 before doing firmware recovery.

On your device, if the partition 1 is running partition with firmware 4.20 and partition 2 is standby partition with 4.32 firmware, you can switch to the partition 4.30 and do firmware recovery in this partition.

If you upgrade the firmware to standby partition via GUI, a backup configuration file of the old firmware version will be automatically generated.

If there is still blank menu after upgraded to 4.32(AAKY.0), feel free to let me know.
We will check the issue remotely.
